But none believed in Moses except some children of his people, because of the fear of Pharaoh and his chiefs, lest they should persecute them; and certainly Pharaoh was mighty on the earth and one who transgressed all bounds. 83 And Musa (Moses) said: "O my people! If you have believed in Allah, then put your trust in Him if you are Muslims (those who submit to Allah's Will)." 84 They said, 'In God we have put our trust. Our Lord, make us not a temptation to the people of the evildoers, 85 And deliver us by Your grace from a people who do not believe." 86 We commanded Moses and his brother: "Build homes for your people in Egypt, and make your houses places of worship, perform your acts of prayer and give happy tidings to those who believe." 87 Moses prayed, "Our Lord, You have bestowed upon Pharaoh and his nobles pomp and wealth in the present life, whereby they lead people astray from Your path. Our Lord, destroy their riches and harden their hearts, so that they shall not believe until they are faced with grievous punishment." 88 He (Allah) said: 'Your supplication is answered; so go straight and do not follow the way of those who do not know' 89 ۞ We brought the Children of Israel through the sea, and Pharaoh and his legions pursued them arrogantly and frantically. But as he was drowning he cried out: '(Now) I believe that there is no god except He in whom the Children of Israel believe. I am of those that surrender (Muslims)' 90 Now? And you had disobeyed [Him] before and were of the corrupters? 91 We will save your body on this day so that you may become evidence (of Our existence) for the coming generations; many people are unaware of such evidence." 92
