And if We make man taste mercy from Us, then take it off from him, most surely he is despairing, ungrateful. 9 But if We give him a taste of (Our) favours after adversity hath touched him, he is sure to say, "All evil has departed from me:" Behold! he falls into exultation and pride. 10 Except those who are patient and do good, they shall have forgiveness and a great reward. 11 You may haply omit some of what has been revealed to you, and may be disheartened because they say: "Why was no treasure sent down to him, or an angel accompanied him?" Yet you have been sent to warn alone, for God takes care of everything. 12 and so they assert, "[Muhammad himself] has invented this [Qur'an]!" Say [unto them]: "Produce, then, ten surahs of similar merit, invented [by yourselves,] and [to this end] call to your aid whomever you can, other than God, if what you say is true! 13 And if they answer not your prayer, then know that it is revealed only in the knowledge of Allah; and that there is no Allah save Him. Will ye then be (of) those who surrender? 14 To those who desire the life of this world and its many allures, We shall pay them in full for their acts herein and will not withold any thing. 15 those are they who in the Everlasting Life will have only the Fire. There, their deeds will have failed and their works will be void. 16 Can they be (like) those who accept a Clear (Sign) from their Lord, and whom a witness from Himself doth teach, as did the Book of Moses before it,- a guide and a mercy? They believe therein; but those of the Sects that reject it,- the Fire will be their promised meeting-place. Be not then in doubt thereon: for it is the truth from thy Lord: yet many among men do not believe! 17 Who doth more wrong than those who invent a lie against Allah? They will be turned back to the presence of their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord! Behold! the Curse of Allah is on those who do wrong! 18 "Those who would hinder (men) from the path of Allah and would seek in it something crooked: these were they who denied the Hereafter!" 19 They can never frustrate God on earth, nor have they any protectors besides God. They will be subjected to double punishment, for they could neither hear nor see. 20 Those are they that have lost their souls, and that they forged has gone astray from them; 21 truly it is they, they who in the life to come shall be the losers! 22 Whereas those who believe and do good deeds and humble themselves before their Lord, they are the companions of Paradise, and there they shall live for ever. 23 ۞ The similitude of the two parties is as the blind and the deaf and the seer and the hearer. Are they equal in similitude? Will ye not then be admonished? 24
