We grant a favor to the human being and then take it away from him. He becomes despairing and ungrateful. 9 But if We give him a taste of (Our) favours after adversity hath touched him, he is sure to say, "All evil has departed from me:" Behold! he falls into exultation and pride. 10 Not so are those who persevere and do righteous works. Those! theirs shall be forgivness and a great hire. 11 IS IT, then, conceivable [O Prophet] that thou couldst omit any part of what is being revealed unto thee [because the deniers of the truth dislike it, and] because thy heart is distressed at their saying, "Why has not a treasure been bestowed upon him from on high?" - or, "[Why has not] an angel come [visibly] with him?" [They fail to understand that] thou art only a warner, whereas God has everything in His care; 12 Or do they say, "He invented it"? Say, "Then bring ten surahs like it that have been invented and call upon [for assistance] whomever you can besides Allah, if you should be truthful." 13 If they do not answer you, then know it has been revealed with the knowledge of God, and that there is no god but He. (And say:) "Will you now submit?" 14 Whoever desires the life of this world and its comforts, We shall give them the full reward for their deeds in it, and not make any reduction in it. 15 They are those for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but Fire; and vain are the deeds they did therein. And of no effect is that which they used to do. 16 Is he like unto him who resteth upon an evidence from His Lord, so and there rehearseth it a witness from Him? And before it was the Book of Musa, a pattern and a mercy; these believe therein; and whosoever of the sects disbelieveth therein, the Fire is his promised place. Be then thou not in dubitation thereof, verily it is the truth from thy Lord, yet most of the mankind believe not. 17 And who does more wrong than he who invents a lie against Allah. Such will be brought before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord!" No doubt! the curse of Allah is on the Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, oppressors, etc.) 18 "Those who would hinder (men) from the path of Allah and would seek in it something crooked: these were they who denied the Hereafter!" 19 These shall not escape in the earth, nor shall they have any guardians besides Allah; the punishment shall be doubled for them, they could not bear to hear and they did not see. 20 These are they who have lost their souls, and hath strayed from them that which they have been fabricating. 21 Undoubtedly they! in the Hereafter they shall be the greatest losers. 22 But those who believe, and do righteous deeds, and have humbled themselves unto their Lord -- they shall be the inhabitants of Paradise, therein dwelling forever. 23 ۞ These two kinds of man may be likened to the blind and deaf and the seeing and hearing. Can these two be deemed alike in [their] nature? Will you not, then, keep this in mind? 24
