And to Ad (We sent) their brother Hud. He said: O my people! serve Allah, you have no god other than He; you are nothing but forgers (of lies). 50 My people! I seek no reward from you for my work. My reward lies only with Him Who created me. Do you not understand anything? 51 My people! Ask your Lord for forgiveness and turn to Him in repentance. He will shower abundant rains upon you from the heaven, and will add strength to your strength. Do not turn away as those given to guilt.' 52 They say: O Hud! thou hast not brought us an evidence, and we are not going to abandon our gods for thy saying, nor are we going to be believers in thee. 53 “We only say that you have been severely struck by one of our deities”; he said, “I make Allah a witness, and you all bear witness that I have no relation with whatever you ascribe (as partners to Allah)”- 54 others than Him in His divinity. So conspire against me, all of you, and give me no respite. 55 Verily I rely on Allah, my Lord and your Lord; no moving creature is there but He holdeth it by its forelock; verily my Lord is on the straight path. 56 But if you turn your backs, I have delivered to you that I was sent with unto you, and my Lord will make a people other than you successors; you will not hurt Him anything. My Lord is Guardian over everything.' 57 When Our command came, We delivered Hud and those who believed with him by Our special mercy. We saved them from a severe punishment. 58 Such were the 'Ad who denied the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His messengers and followed the bidding of every headstrong enemy of truth. 59 They were condemned in this life and will be condemned in the life hereafter. The tribe of Ad had certainly rejected their Lord. God kept the tribe of Ad, the people of Hud, away from His mercy. 60
