In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book that makes (things) manifest. 1 We have sent it down as an Arabic Koran; haply you will understand. 2 Through the revelation of this Qur'an We narrate the best of histories of which you were unaware before. 3 LO! Thus spoke Joseph unto his father: "O my father! Behold, I saw [in a dream] eleven stars, as well as the sun and the moon: I saw them prostrate themselves before me!" 4 He said: O my son! do not relate your vision to your brothers, lest they devise a plan against you; surely the Shaitan is an open enemy to man. 5 "Thus will your Lord choose you and teach you the interpretation of dreams (and other things) and perfect His Favour on you and on the offspring of Ya'qub (Jacob), as He perfected it on your fathers, Ibrahim (Abraham) and Ishaque (Isaac) aforetime! Verily, your Lord is All-Knowing, All-Wise." 6
