Joseph (Yousuf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the illustrious Book. 1 We have sent it down as a clear discourse that you may understand. 2 We narrate unto thee (Muhammad) the best of narratives in that We have inspired in thee this Qur'an, though aforetime thou wast of the heedless. 3 When Joseph told his father: "O my father, I saw eleven stars and the sun and the moon bowing before me in homage," 4 Said (the father): "My (dear) little son! relate not thy vision to thy brothers, lest they concoct a plot against thee: for Satan is to man an avowed enemy! 5 Your Lord will choose you and teach you to interpret events, and confer His favours on you and the house of Jacob, as He had done in the case of two ancestors of yours, Abraham and Isaac, before you. Indeed your Lord is all-knowing and all-wise." 6
