The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful

AlifLaamMeem. 1 This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear Allah; 2 Who believe in the Ghaib and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and spend out of what we have provided for them [i.e. give Zakat, spend on themselves, their parents, their children, their wives, etc., and also give charity to the poor and also in Allah's Cause - Jihad, etc.]. 3 Who believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed to those before you, and are certain of the Hereafter. 4 These are on guidance from their Lord, and these they are the blissful ones. 5 As for the unbelievers, alike it is to them whether thou hast warned them or hast not warned them, they do not believe. 6 Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and ears; their sight is dimmed and for them is a great punishment. 7
