The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
AlifLaamMeem. 1 This is the Book (the Quran), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqun [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)]. 2 Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them; 3 And who believe in that which is revealed unto thee (Muhammad) and that which was revealed before thee, and are certain of the Hereafter. 4 Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful. 5 As for those who deny, it is all the same if you warn them or not, they will not believe. 6 God has sealed their hearts and hearing and their vision is veiled; a great punishment awaits them. 7
