The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 This is the Book (the Quran), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqun [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)]. 2 Who believe in the Unknown and fulfil their devotional obligations, and spend in charity of what We have given them; 3 Who believe in that which has been sent down to you (Prophet Muhammad) and what has been sent down before you (to Prophets Jesus and Moses) and firmly believe in the Everlasting Life. 4 These are on a right course from their Lord and these it is that shall be successful. 5 Surely those who disbelieve, it being alike to them whether you warn them, or do not warn them, will not believe. 6 Allah hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, and on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur). 7
