The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)

In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

Alif Lam Mim. 1 That is the Book, wherein is no doubt, a guidance to the godfearing 2 who believe in the Unseen, and perform the prayer, and expend of that We have provided them; 3 And who believe in that which has been revealed to you and that which was revealed before you and they are sure of the hereafter. 4 It is the pious who follow the guidance of their Lord and gain lasting happiness. 5 As for those whose fate is disbelief, whether you warn them or do not warn them – it is all one for them; they will not believe. (Because their hearts are sealed – see next verse). 6 Allah hath set a seal on their hearts and on their hearing, and on their eyes is a veil; great is the penalty they (incur). 7
