Joseph's brothers came to him. When they entered his court, he recognized them. They did not know him. 58 When he had made provision for them, he told them, "Bring me your brother on your father's side. Do you not see that I give you full measure and that I am the best of hosts? 59 But if you do not bring him with you, then I shall have no grain for you, nor should you come back to me." 60 They replied: 'We will ask our father for him. This we will surely do' 61 And [Joseph] said to his servants: "Place their merchandise in their camel-packs, so that they may find it there when they come home, and hence be the more eager to return. 62 When they returned to their father, they told him, "Father, (unless we take our brother) they will refuse us one further measure of grain. Send our brother with us so that we can obtain that measure. We shall watch over him carefully". 63 He replied: "Should I trust you with him as I did his brother? But God is the best of guardians, and most merciful of all." 64 And when they opened their stuff, they found their goods returned unto them. They said: our father! what more can we desire! here are our goods returned to us; We Shall supply our household and shall guard our brother and shall add another measure of a camel load: this is only a small measure. 65 He said: I will by no means send him with you until you give me a firm covenant in Allah's name that you will most certainly bring him back to me, unless you are completely surrounded. And when they gave him their covenant, he said: Allah is the One in Whom trust is placed as regards what we say. 66 And he enjoined them: "My sons! Do not enter the city by one gate; rather enter it by different gates. I can be of no help to you against Allah. Allah's command alone prevails. In Him have I put my trust and in Him should all those who have faith put their trust." 67 And when they entered as their father had enjoined them, it availed them not against Allah at all; it was only a craving in the soul of Ya'qub that he satisfied; verily he was endued with knowledge, for We had taught him; but most of the people know not. 68
