Deem not that God is heedless of what the evildoers work; He is only deferring them to a day when eyes shall stare, 42 Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their glance does not come back to them, and their hearts are void. 43 (Muhammad), warn the people of the day when torment will approach them and the unjust will say, "Lord, give us respite for a little time so that we may answer your call and follow the Messengers." (The answer to their prayer will be), "Did you not swear before that you would never perish? 44 Yet you dwelt in the dwellings of those who had exceeded themselves, and it was evident to you how We had dealt with them; and We held out examples before you." 45 And they had planned their plan, but with Allah is [recorded] their plan, even if their plan had been [sufficient] to do away with the mountains. 46 So think not that Allah will fail to keep His promise to His messengers. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Able to Requite (the wrong). 47 [It will be] on the Day the earth will be replaced by another earth, and the heavens [as well], and all creatures will come out before Allah, the One, the Prevailing. 48 And you will see the criminals that Day bound together in shackles, 49 Of molten pitch shall be their garments, their faces covered with flames, 50 That Allah may repay each soul what it hath earned. Lo! Allah is swift at reckoning. 51 This [Qur'an] is notification for the people that they may be warned thereby and that they may know that He is but one God and that those of understanding will be reminded. 52
