And deem not Allah negligent of that which the wrong-doers work: He only deferreth them to a Day whereon the sight shall remain staring. 42 when they shall keep pressing ahead in haste, their heads lifted up, their gaze directed forward, unable to look away from what they behold, their hearts utterly void. 43 And warn people of the day when the chastisement shall come to them, then those who were unjust will say: O our Lord! respite us to a near term, (so) we shall respond to Thy call and follow the apostles. What! did you not swear before (that) there will be no passing away for you! 44 And yet, you dwelt in the dwelling-places of those who had sinned against their own selves [before your time,] and it was made obvious to you how We had dealt with them: for We have set forth unto you many a parable [of sin, resurrection and divine retribution]." 45 And they had planned their plan, but with Allah is [recorded] their plan, even if their plan had been [sufficient] to do away with the mountains. 46 Do not think that Allah will break the promise He gave to His Messengers. Mighty is Allah, and Vengeful. 47 On the Day when the earth shall be changed into another earth, as shall be the heavens, they will all appear before God, the One, the Most Supreme. 48 On that Day you shall see the guilty bound in chains, 49 Their garments will be of pitch, and fire will cover their faces. 50 In order that Allah may repay each soul what it had earned; indeed Allah spends no time in judging the account. 51 Here is a Message for mankind: Let them take warning therefrom, and let them know that He is (no other than) One Allah: let men of understanding take heed. 52
