And do not ever assume that Allah is unaware of what the unjust do; He does not give them respite but for a day in which the eyes will become fixed, staring. 42 the while they will be running confusedly to and fro, with their heads upraised [in supplication,] unable to look away from what they shall behold, and their hearts an abysmal void. 43 And warn mankind of the day when the chastisement comes on them, And those who did evil shall say, 'Our Lord, defer us to a near term, and we will answer Thy call, and follow the Messengers.' 'Ah, but did you not swear aforetime there should be no removing for you? 44 And you dwelt in the dwelling-places of those who wronged themselves, and it became clear to you how We did with them, and how We struck similitudes for you. 45 Indeed the unbelievers contrived their plan, but it is in Allah's power to nullify their plan, even though their plans were such that would move even mountains. 46 Therefore do not think Allah (to be one) failing in His promise to His apostles; surely Allah is Mighty, the Lord of Retribution. 47 On the Day when the earth is changed into other than the earth and the heavens, all shall come before Allah, the One, the Conqueror. 48 On that Day you shall see the guilty bound in chains, 49 Their shirts made of pitch and the fire covering their faces 50 In order that Allah may repay each soul what it had earned; indeed Allah spends no time in judging the account. 51 This is the message to be conveyed to all mankind – and in order to warn them with it, and for them to know that He is the only One God, and for men of understanding to heed advice. 52
