And do not ever assume that Allah is unaware of what the unjust do; He does not give them respite but for a day in which the eyes will become fixed, staring. 42 Hastening forward, their heads upraised, their eyes not reverting to them and their hearts vacant. 43 (O Muhammad), warn mankind of the Day when a severe chastisement shall overtake them, and the wrong-doers will say: "Our Lord, grant us respite for a short while; we shall respond to Your call and will follow Your Messengers." (But they will be clearly told): "Are you not the same who swore earlier that they shall never suffer decline?" 44 Yet you dwelt in the dwellings of those who had exceeded themselves, and it was evident to you how We had dealt with them; and We held out examples before you." 45 Indeed the unbelievers contrived their plan, but it is in Allah's power to nullify their plan, even though their plans were such that would move even mountains. 46 So deem not thou that Allah is going to fail His promise to His apostles; verily Allah is Mighty, Lord of vengeance 47 [It will be] on the Day the earth will be replaced by another earth, and the heavens [as well], and all creatures will come out before Allah, the One, the Prevailing. 48 For on that Day thou wilt see all who were lost in sin linked together in fetters, 49 Their raiment of pitch, and the Fire covering their faces, 50 Allah will recompense each soul according to its earnings. Swift is the Reckoning of Allah. 51 This is the message to be conveyed to all mankind – and in order to warn them with it, and for them to know that He is the only One God, and for men of understanding to heed advice. 52
