The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are verses of the Scripture and a plain Reading. 1 The disbelievers will ardently wish that if only they had been Muslims! (At the time of death / in their graves / on the Day of Resurrection.) 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy life and let false hopes amuse them. They will soon come to know. 3 Not one habitation have We destroyed but at the time determined for it. 4 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 5 And they say: "O you (Muhammad SAW) to whom the Dhikr (the Quran) has been sent down! Verily, you are a mad man. 6 Why bringest thou not angels unto us, if thou art of the truthful? 7 We send not down the angels, save with truth; 8 We Ourselves have revealed the Quran and We are its Protectors. 9 And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples. 10 But never once an apostle came to them at whom they did not scoff. 11 Even so do We [now] cause this [scorn of Our message] to pervade the hearts of those who are lost in sin, 12 They do not believe in the Truth and they exactly follow the tradition of the ancient (unbelievers) 13 Had We opened a door for them in the sky through which they could easily pass, 14 They would surely say: "Our eyes have been (as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people bewitched." 15
