The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra. These are the verses of the Book and the glorious Quran. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 Let them eat and enjoy life, and let (false) hope beguile them. They will come to know! 3 Never a city have We destroyed, but it had a known decree, 4 Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad. 6 Why do you not bring to us the angels if you are of the truthful ones? 7 But then We never send the angels down save with the purpose (of enforcing their doom), after which they will not be given more respite. 8 We Ourselves have revealed the Quran and We are its Protectors. 9 And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples. 10 And never came there unto them a messenger but they did mock him. 11 even so We cause it to enter into the hearts of the sinners -- 12 They believe not therein, and already the example of the ancients hath gone forth. 13 Had We opened a door for them in the sky through which they could easily pass, 14 yet would they say, 'Our eyes have been dazzled; nay, we are a people bewitched!' 15
