The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Ra. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. These are the Verses of the Book, and a plain Quran. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 Leave them alone, to enjoy (the good things of this life) and to please themselves: let (false) hope amuse them: soon will knowledge (undeceive them). 3 Never a city have We destroyed, but it had a known decree, 4 Neither can a people anticipate its term, nor delay it. 5 And they say: O thou unto whom the admonition hath been sent down! verily thou art possessed. 6 If you are a man of truth, why can't you bring the angels to us?" 7 We send not the angels down save with judgment, and then they would not be respited. 8 Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Quran) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). 9 We have sent forth before you Messengers among the factions of the ancients. 10 And there never came an apostle to them but they mocked him. 11 Even so We make a way for it (that is, the Admonition) in the hearts of the culprits (like a hot rod); 12 That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away. 13 Even if We open a door in the heavens and they ascend through it in broad daylight, 14 Even then they would say, “Our sights have been hypnotised in fact, a magic spell has been cast upon us.” 15

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
