The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an. 1 Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims. 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 [but remember that] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [it]. 5 They say: 'You to whom the Remembrance is sent down, you are indeed mad. 6 Why do you not bring down the angels, if what you say is true' 7 We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited. 8 then they would not be respited. It is We who have sent down the Remembrance, and We watch over it. 9 And assuredly We have sent apostles before thee among the sects of the ancients. 10 and not a single Messenger came to them, but they mocked at him; 11 Thus do We make it traverse the hearts of the guilty: 12 They do not believe in the Truth and they exactly follow the tradition of the ancient (unbelievers) 13 Had We opened a door for them in the sky through which they could easily pass, 14 still they would say: 'Our eyes were dazzled; truly, we must have been a bewitched people' 15
