The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra'. These are the verses of the Book, and a Clear Qur'an. 1 Soon will the time come when the unbelievers will wish they were Muslims. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy, and for aspiration to involve them in play – so they will shortly come to know. 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 Every nation can only live for the time appointed for it. 5 They say: "O thou to whom the Message is being revealed! truly thou art mad (or possessed)! 6 Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?" 7 We send not the angels down save with judgment, and then they would not be respited. 8 As for the Admonition, indeed it is We Who have revealed it and it is indeed We Who are its guardians. 9 And certainly We sent (apostles) before you among the nations of yore. 10 But never came a messenger to them but they mocked him. 11 This is how We cause the hearts of the guilty ones to behave. 12 So, they will not believe in it: The example of former people is there. 13 Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein, 14 Even then they would say, “Our sights have been hypnotised – in fact, a magic spell has been cast upon us.” 15
