The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. Those are the signs of the Book and of a manifest Koran. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy, and for aspiration to involve them in play – so they will shortly come to know. 3 And never did We destroy a township but there was a known decree for it. 4 [but remember that] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [it]. 5 They say: "O thou to whom the Message is being revealed! truly thou art mad (or possessed)! 6 Why dost thou not bring before us angels, if thou art a man of truth? 7 We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited. 8 Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian. 9 We sent Messengers to the ancient people who lived before you. 10 And whenever a Messenger came to them, they never failed to mock him. 11 Thus do We let it (polytheism and disbelief) enter into the hearts of the Mujrimun [criminals, polytheists, pagans, etc. (because of their mockery at the Messengers)]. 12 They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples. 13 And even if We opened unto them a gate of heaven and they kept mounting through it, 14 They would only say: "Our eyes have been intoxicated: Nay, we have been bewitched by sorcery." 15
