The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ Alif. Lam. Ra'. These are the verses of the Book, and a Clear Qur'an. 1 A time will surely come when those who are bent on denying the truth will wish that they had surrendered themselves to God, 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy life and let false hopes amuse them. They will soon come to know. 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter. 5 And they say: O thou unto whom the Reminder is revealed, lo! thou art indeed a madman! 6 Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?" 7 We do not send down the angels (in frivolity); and when We do send them down, We do so with Truth; then people are granted no respite. 8 Surely We have revealed the Reminder and We will most surely be its guardian. 9 We had also sent apostles to people of earlier persuasions. 10 And never came a Messenger to them but they did mock him. 11 So We make it enter the hearts of the sinners. 12 who do not believe in it, although the way which those [evildoers] of olden times had to go has long been within their ken. 13 And if We open for them a gate in the heavens, to ascend it through the day – 14 They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic." 15
