The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Ra. Those are the signs of the Book and of a manifest Koran. 1 The unbelievers would haply like to wish that they had submitted (and become Muslim). 2 Leave them to feast and revel, beguiled by hope; they will come to know soon. 3 And every dwelling that We destroyed, had a known decree for it. 4 No people can hasten on their doom nor can they postpone (it). 5 And yet they say: "You, to whom this Exposition has been sent are surely possessed of the Devil. 6 "Why do you not bring angels to us if you are of the truthful ones?" 7 We do not send the angels but with truth, and then they would not be respited. 8 Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Dhikr (i.e. the Quran) and surely, We will guard it (from corruption). 9 We did send messengers before thee amongst the religious sects of old: 10 but there was never a messenger who came to them but they mocked him: 11 This is how We make the mocking* enter the hearts of the guilty. (* The acts of disbelief.) 12 They do not believe in the Truth and they exactly follow the tradition of the ancient (unbelievers) 13 Though We opened to them a gate in heaven, and still they mounted through it, 14 they would have said, "Our eyes are bewildered and we have been affected by magic." 15
