Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 and the jinn before (the human being) of smokeless fire. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely, 30 Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 He said: O Iblis! What aileth thee that thou art not among the prostrate? 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 "Till the Day of the Time appointed." 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 “Except those among them who are Your chosen bondmen.” 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 over My servants thou shalt have no authority, except those that follow thee, 42 Surely, Hell is the place to which they are destined, 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
