AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 and the jinn created We before of fire flaming. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 Said Allah, “O Iblis! What happened to you that you stayed apart from those who prostrated?” 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 Upon thee shall rest the curse, till the Day of Doom.' 35 "O my Lord," said he, "give me respite till the day the dead are raised." 36 He answered: 'You are among those reprieved 37 Till the Day of the Time known. 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 except for Your chosen servants." 40 Allah said: this is the path leading unto Me straight. 41 "For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee." 42 And verily Hell is the place promised unto them all. 43 It has seven gates and each gate is assigned for a certain group of people. 44
