AND, INDEED, We have created man out of sounding clay, out of dark-slime transmuted 26 and the jinn before (the human being) of smokeless fire. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 and when I have formed him fully and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration! 29 So the angels fell prostrate, all of them together 30 except iblis (father of the jinn) who refused to be one of those who prostrated themselves. 31 He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance? 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 God said, "Then get out of here; for you are accursed, 34 Condemned till the day of Doom!" 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 Said Allah, “This path* leads straight towards Me.” (* The path of the chosen bondmen.) 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
