Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 and the jinn before (the human being) of smokeless fire. 27 But when your Lord said to the angels: "I am verily going to create a human being from fermented clay dried tingling hard; 28 "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." 29 So, the angels - all of them - fell down in prostration, 30 save Iblis; he refused to be among those bowing. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 (Allah) said: 'Begone, you are accursed! 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 for an appointed time." 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight. 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them. 44
