Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And recall when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Save Iblis. He refused to be among the prostrate. 31 He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance? 32 He replied: 'I will not prostrate to a mortal You have created of clay, from molded mud' 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 Allah said: "For sure you are granted respite 37 for an appointed time." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 Surely, as regards My servants, you have no authority, over them except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 "It (Hell) has seven gates, for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
