Indeed We created man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud. 26 And the jinn We created before from scorching fire. 27 And recall when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 28 and when I have formed him fully and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down before him in prostration! 29 So the angels made obeisance, all of them together, 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 He replied: 'I will not prostrate to a mortal You have created of clay, from molded mud' 33 God told him, "Get out of the garden; you are rejected 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 Said He, 'Thou art among the ones that are respited 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators. 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
