And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 Except Iblis. He refused to bow with the adorers. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He replied: 'I will not prostrate to a mortal You have created of clay, from molded mud' 33 He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast. 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 Allah said: "Then, verily, you are of those reprieved, 37 Till the Day of the Time known. 38 (satan) said: 'My Lord, for Your perverting me, I shall make (matters) in the earth seem most fair to them and I shall pervert all, 39 Except the chosen ones among Your creatures." 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 Lo! as for My slaves, thou hast no power over any of them save such of the froward as follow thee, 42 being perverse; Gehenna shall be their promised land all together. 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
