We created mankind from clay, molded from mud, 26 As We fashioned jinns before from intense radiated heat. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 When I have formed him and breathed My spirit into him, fall down in prostration before him," 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis (Satan)! What is your reason for not being among the prostrators?" 32 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "I am not the one to prostrate myself to a human being, whom You created from sounding clay of altered black smooth mud." 33 God said, "Then get out of here; for you are accursed, 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 Allah said: verily then thou art of the respited: 37 "Till the Day of the time appointed." 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 He (Allah) said: 'This is for Me the Right Path 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 "And surely, Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated." 44
