And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 And created the jinn before him, from smokeless fire. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 When I have completed shaping him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall you down before him in prostration." 29 So, the angels - all of them - fell down in prostration, 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 "How is it, O Iblis," said (the Lord), "you did not join those who bowed in homage?" 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 The Lord said: "Then get out of here; you are rejected, 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 "Till the predetermined time." 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 God said, "This is the path which leads straight to Me. 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
