We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 He said: 'iblis, what is the matter with you, that you do you not prostrate yourself' 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 and [My] rejection shall be thy due until the Day of Judgment!" 35 He said: 'My Lord, reprieve me till the Day they are raised' 36 He said: Then lo! thou art of those reprieved 37 Till the Day of appointed time. 38 "O my Lord," he said, "since You have led me into error I'll beguile them with the pleasures of the world and lead them astray, 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 And surely Hell is the promised place of them all: 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
