We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 And the jinn, We had created them afore of the fire of the scroching wind. 27 And when thy Lord said to the angels, 'See, I am creating a mortal of a clay of mud moulded. 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 He said: O Iblis! what excuse have you that you are not with those who make obeisance? 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 Said He: "Go forth, then, from this [angelic state]: for, behold, thou art [henceforth] accursed, 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 "O my Lord," said he, "give me respite till the day the dead are raised." 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 till that Appointed Day." 38 [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all 39 except those of Your servants whom You have singled out for Yourself." 40 God said, "The path which leads to Me is a straight 41 “Indeed you do not have any power over My bondmen, except those wanderers who follow you.” (The devil is unsuccessful in tempting Allah’s chosen bondmen to commit sin.) 42 Gehenna (Hell) will be the promise for all of them. 43 Which has several gates, and each gate is marked for every section of them." 44
