We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 Your Lord said to the angels, "I am about to bring into being a man wrought from mud. 28 Then when I have formed him and breathed into him of My Spirit fall down unto him prostrate. 29 So the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together: 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 Said He, 'What ails thee, Iblis, that thou art not among those bowing?' 32 He said: "It does not behove of me to prostrate myself before a human being whom You have created out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud." 33 The Lord said: "Then get out of here; you are rejected, 34 A curse shall be on you till the Day of Recompense' 35 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Give me then respite till the Day they (the dead) will be resurrected." 36 He said: So surely you are of the respited ones 37 till the Day the time whereof is known [to Me alone]." 38 Said he, 'My Lord, for Thy perverting me I shall deck all fair to them in the earth, and I shall pervert them, all together, 39 [all] save such of them as are truly Thy servants!" 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 “Indeed you do not have any power over My bondmen, except those wanderers who follow you.” (The devil is unsuccessful in tempting Allah’s chosen bondmen to commit sin.) 42 and for all such, behold, hell is the promised goal. 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
