Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 and before him We created the jinn from smokeless fire. 27 And when your Lord said to the angels: Surely I am going to create a mortal of the essence of black mud fashioned in shape. 28 When I have shaped him and ran My created soul in him fall down prostrating towards him'. 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 Except Iblis (Satan), - he refused to be among the prostrators. 31 God asked Iblis, "What made you not join the others in prostration?" 32 He said it was not for me that I should prostrate myself unto a human being whom Thou hast created from ringing clay of loam moulded. 33 God told him, "Get out of the garden; you are rejected 34 And verily on thee shall be the curse till the Day of Requital. 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 Allah said: verily then thou art of the respited: 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 Save such of them as are Thy perfectly devoted slaves. 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 and you have no authority over My servants except the erring ones who follow you. 42 And verily Hell is the place promised unto them all. 43 There are seven gates in it, and to each gate a portion of them has been allotted. 44
