Verily We created man of potter's clay of black mud altered, 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 But when your Lord said to the angels: "I am verily going to create a human being from fermented clay dried tingling hard; 28 So when I have made him complete and breathed into him of My spirit, fall down making obeisance to him. 29 All the angels prostrated themselves, 30 save Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 (Allah) said: "O Iblis! what is your reason for not being among those who prostrated themselves?" 32 "How could I bow," said he, "before a mortal whom You created from fermented clay dried tingling hard?" 33 Said He, 'Then go thou forth hence; thou art accursed. 34 And lo! the curse shall be upon thee till the Day of Judgment. 35 Satan said, "O my Lord! Grant me respite till the Day of Resurrection." 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 till the appointed time. 38 He said: My Lord! Because Thou hast sent me astray, I verily shall adorn the path of error for them in the earth, and shall mislead them every one, 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 Hell is the promised place for them all. 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44
