We have created the human being out of pure mud-moulded clay 26 and the jinn We had created before from flaming fire. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 When it is properly shaped and I have blown My Spirit into it, you should then bow down in prostration". 29 So, the angels - all of them - fell down in prostration, 30 Except Iblis (Satan); he refused to be among those who prostrated. 31 Allah said: O Iblis! what aileth thou that thou art not with the prostrates? 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 (Allah) said: "Then get thee out from here; for thou art rejected, accursed. 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 Iblis said: "My Lord! Grant me respite till the Day when they will be resurrected." 36 He said, "You are granted respite 37 till the appointed time. 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 except Your sincere servants". 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 verily, thou shalt have no power over My creatures - unless it be such as are [already] lost in grievous error and follow thee [of their own will]: 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 with seven gates leading into it, each gate receiving its allotted share of sinners. 44
