So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By your life! they were blindly wandering on in their intoxication. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
