And when the sent angels came to the house of Lut. 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 Go, then, with thy household while it is yet night, with thyself following them in the rear; and let none of you look back, but proceed whither you are bidden." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the city came [unto Lot,] rejoicing at the glad tiding. 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 And keep your duty to Allah, and shame me not! 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
