When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 so leave with your family some time in the latter part of the night, and walk behind them. Let none of you look back. Go where you are commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
