So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 An explosion struck them at sunrise. 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
