AND WHEN the messengers [of God] came to the house of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They (people of the city) said: "Did we not forbid you to entertain (or protect) any of the 'Alamin (people, foreigners, strangers, etc. from us)?" 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
