Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said, 'Nay, but we have brought thee that concerning which they were doubting. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the last remnants of those (sinners) should be cut off by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 [Lout (Lot)] said: "Verily! these are my guests, so shame me not. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
