And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
