When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 Indeed in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers in the wood [i.e. the people of Madyan (Midian) to whom Prophet Shu'aib was sent by Allah), were also Zalimun (polytheists and wrong-doers, etc.). 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
