Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 'No' they replied: 'We bring you (news) of that concerning which they were doubting. 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life, (O Prophet), they went about blindly stumbling in their intoxication. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Verily, in all this there are messages indeed for those who can read the signs: 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
