And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 We bring you the truth, and indeed we are truthful. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
