And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And We decreed for him that commandment, that the last remnant of those should be cut off in the morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Indeed in this are signs for people who perceive. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Verily there is a Sign in this for the believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
