And when the messengers came unto the family of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful. 64 “Therefore journey with your household while a portion of the night remains, and you tread behind them – and none of you may turn around and see, and proceed directly to the place you are commanded to.” 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly. 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
